No New Tale to Tell

"Greed is the root of all evil."

I personally don't think it is the ROOT of all evil, but it's very very interconnected. Everything that has anything to do with evil has something to do with greed. In my opinion "evil" is circular, a vicious cycle, and so greed ties into everything. All of the Canterbury Tales have greed in them, but is greed really the root of the stories? Or is it merely related, and plays a big factor into it? The Wife of Bathe's tale wasn't directly about greed, but if you think about it, the knight greedily just took advantage of a woman, and then greedily thought he deserved a beautiful wife instead of an old hag, when really, he deserved to die alone.

  1. I think that your idea of evil that is circular is very itneresting and different. I agree there it's very difficult to pinpoint an exact root of evil as well.

  2. I like the concept of your post Shay! You didn't agree with the quote above & you put your own twist on it. I agree with above because greed isn't always be problem or theme of all stories. It can be tied into evil it isn't always the cause, but the effect.

  3. I like how you think the subject of evil relates to a cycle. Its like the circle of life. You cannot have good without evil. While evil may not be the root of everything, most greedy things tie back to it.
